Manual lymph drainage (MLD) is a gentle manual treatment technique which improves the activity of the lymph vessels and re-routes the lymph flow around the blocked areas into more centrally located lymph vessels that drain into the venous system. No cure for lymphedema exists, but lymphedema can be controlled with diligent care of your affected limb.

Patients and their families are taught proper skin care, diet, massage techniques, exercises and compression techniques to assist managing their lymphedema and enjoying a healthy lifestyle.

Our specially trained therapist has over 13 years of experience and will work with each patient on an individual basis to increase knowledge, safety, and ultimately independence.

A patient must have a referral from a physician to receive physical therapy services. Each therapy session lasts 1-1.5 hours. Please wear loose clothing that will accommodate large bandages on your affected limb.

Your therapy will most likely be covered by your insurance company, however the supplies needed to treat your condition are often not covered. Please let your therapist know if this is a concern or problem for you.
